Hundreds of people filled Wimborne Square on Saturday 29 November for the switching on of the town’s lights, with people commenting that it was busier than ever.

The day was filled with festive cheer, featuring performances from local choirs and dance groups, and an entry from The Quarterjacks of Wimborne Marching Band. As evening fell, the countdown began, and the town was bathed in the glow of Christmas lights display, greeted with cheers and applause from families and visitors of all ages.
The lights were switched on by the Mayor of Wimborne, Cllr Jeff Hart, helped by winners of the children’s poster competition.
Speaking after the event, Wimborne Minster Town Council who are the organisers said: “Wimborne Minster once again showed its incredible community spirit. We are so grateful to all the performers, SLICK Events, and every volunteer who made today such a memorable occasion. The atmosphere was truly magical.”
