Dave Saxton, Topics and Events Co-ordinator for Wimborne Stroke Support Group said, “What could be better than having a meeting in the Cedar Room at Haskins Garden Centre sampling their great coffee and scrumptious cakes.
“This was followed with an excellent presentation by Timothy Medhurst from the Auctioneers Dukes of Dorchester. Timothy was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable on his subject. His Antiques Road Show Interlude where he talked about and valued items brought in by the group members had us all mesmerised.”
“To top it all Lynne Turner, Musical Director of the local choir Vocal Fusion came along with a colleague to present the Group with an amazing cheque for over £2,700 being the amount raised at their recent charity concert in aid of The Wimborne Stroke Support Group and The Stroke Association. We also discussed the success of our recent ‘Round the Islands’ boat trip in Poole Harbour as well as the forthcoming coach trip to Swanage and Compton Acres.”
The group meets on the second Wednesday every month, usually at Wimborne Scout Hall, Station Road, Wimborne BH21 1QU and occasionally at Haskins.
The atmosphere at meetings is friendly, offering moral support and regular speakers covering a whole variety of subjects including stroke associated issues and healthy lifestyle advice.
