Wimborne students raise over £2,000 in Sleep Easy Initiative
A total of 35 sixth formers made rough shelters and slept overnight at Queen Elizabeth’s School as part of the YMCA initiative.

Students at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Wimborne have discovered what it is like to be homeless.
A total of 35 sixth formers made shelters ready for a night at the school away from the comfort of their own beds.
The students were taking part in the YMCA’s Sleep Easy initiative which aims to challenge young people to leave their comfy bed for a night and to raise awareness and funds for less fortunate youngsters facing homelessness in the community.
The QE students have now raised over £2,000 for the YMCA on their JustGiving page.
The sixth formers were delighted to be well supported and encouraged by two local businesses.
They were treated to pizza on the night from Dominos Pizzas, while O’Hara Funerals in Wimborne judged the shelters, giving Amazon vouchers to the best.
Thomas Neill, headteacher at the school which is part of Initio Learning Trust, said: “We are very proud of our sixth formers for taking part in our QE Sleep Easy 2025 event and for raising so much for this worthy cause.
“We hope that this experience has helped them to develop a sense of empathy and social responsibility towards the homeless, in line with our Christian values as a school of community, respect, kindness and love.
“Thanks also to Dominos and O’Hara Funerals for helping and encouraging our students with this challenging experience.”
