Wimborne Town shook off the disappointment of Saturday’s last ditch 2-1 defeat at Cinderford to claim bragging rights with a 3-1 victory in the Bank Holiday Monday local derby at Bashley.
Mark Gamble, making his first start of the campaign, put Wimborne ahead from the penalty spot in the first period.
Sam Griffin doubled the lead in the second half with a near post header.
Ryan Brading pulled one back for Bashley, but within a minute the Magpies added their third, courtesy of Jamie Davidson.
The victory propelled Wimborne into 5th spot in the Southern League Division One South & West table with 11 points from their opening six games – four of which were played away from home.
This Saturday Wimborne are in FA Cup action when they host AFC St Austell in a Preliminary Round encounter at Cuthbury. Kick-off is 3pm.
