Wimborne Town Football Club made it six wins out of six at the weekend, with an entertaining victory over visiting Northwood FC in the FA Trophy. Mark Gamble netted the opener after good work by James Stokoe and Jamie Davidson. He then doubled the lead by converting the penalty he earned after being felled by the opposing goalkeeper. Dave Lawrence pulled a goal back for Northwood, setting up a tense finish, but the resilient Magpies managed to see the game out. The victory was worth £3,250 in prize money, and Wimborne will be in the hat for Monday’s draw, knowing they are already further into the competition than they have ever been before.
Next up on the pitch is a return to league action away to Didcot Town on Saturday 22 November (kick off 3pm).
On the social side there is a Quiz and Curry night at the club house on Wednesday 19, before the big launch of Wimborne’s new function room, 1878, on Friday 21 November. The facility is named after the year the club was founded, and it’s opening event will be a champagne reception, featuring Cherries legend Steve Fletcher. An open invitation is extended to potential investors, media and fans alike.
