Wimborne’s annual Duck Race to be held this weekend
The 24th annual Duck Race will be held this weekend, with hundreds of rubber ducks being launched into Wimborne’s River Allen.
Wimborne’s annual Duck Race will be staged on Saturday 24 August. This popular event will see hundreds of rubber toy ducks ‘racing’ down the River Allen.
The 24th annual race will begin at 4pm at the bottom of Mill Lane next to the Riverside Café. The finishing line will be beside the garden at the back of the Rising Sun in East Street.
Each duck is numbered, and corresponding tickets can be bought for £1 from outside both the Co-Operative Store and the Waitrose Store today (Friday 23) and on race day itself.
The ticketholder for the first duck to cross the finish line will win a grand prize of £50. Second place will win £25, third £10, and 4th, 5th, and 6th will win £5 each.
Proceeds from the Duck Race will go to Wimborne in Bloom to fund the planting and maintenance of floral displays around the town. This year’s Duck Race was sponsored by Puddle Ducks Dorset, the children’s swimming school.
