Ben Pulford, one of mags4dorset’s directors crashed Hiker & Co’s Saturday Bash on Forest FM 92.3 on 12 April to talk about CashUnity.
Hiker was intrigued when he heard that his co-presenter Michelin Mike had scooped £1,000 prize in CashUnity and wanted to find out more. Hiker (foreground) is pictured with Michelin Mike and Ben Pulford (right back).
Mike explained he’d won the money after entering CashUnity at Caxton Decor in Fordingbridge. The owner of the Three Lions at Stuckton decided to give his windfall to charity and is going to split his prize money between the CT Scanner Appeal at Salisbury General Hospital and the Piam Brown Specialist Oncology and Haematology Unit at Southampton Hospital for children aged 0-16-years-old.
CashUnity, the mags4dorset shop local initiative, is aimed at generating more interest in local shops and is doing just that. Over 100 traders have joined the venture and anyone over 18 who carries out their shopping in any of the participating stores and spends £10 or more is given the opportunity to enter the monthly prize draw to win £1,000.
Ben said, “So far we have received over 2,000 entries and the initiative only started in January. Mike is our second winner and it’s good to see, even with no strings attached on how the prize money is spent, that someone who has won has decided to put the money towards two really good causes, both of which will benefit our local communities.”
