Witchampton lad raises more than £300 for Comic Relief
Austin, the youngest child in his class at Witchampton First School, raised funds for Comic Relief by running 30km during March.

A local four-year-old boy has raised £334 for Comic Relief by running 30km in a month.
Austin, a pupil at Witchampton First School’s Reception class, heard about the charity and wanted to do his bit to help.
He and his parents decided that he would commit to running 30km throughout March, documenting all his runs on a running watch and with photos.
Impressed by his commitment, the whole school community at Witchampton First School decided to give him a boost and run with him for his final two kilometres of the challenge.
The headteacher, teachers, support staff and pupils all gathered on the Witchampton school field on Friday 21 March – Red Nose Day – to get their heart rates going as they ran with Austin.
Austin also got a motivation boost after receiving an inspirational video message of support from British fitness coach and TV show host, Joe Wicks, as well as from former football player and manager, Harry Redknapp.
Austin, who is the youngest child in his class, is very proud of his achievement and says he can’t wait to do the next fundraiser.
Sheri Green, Austin’s mum, said: “Austin has always been sensitive to the needs of those less fortunate than himself and has always taken an interest in charitable causes.
“He said we should do something for Comic Relief and so we decided to run 30km in March. It was harder than we thought it would be, but we got there in the end.
“Austin really appreciated the messages of support from Joe Wicks and Harry Redknapp. But then to have the whole school at Witchampton come together and run the last two kilometres with him was fantastic – thank you to everyone who supported him.”
Sharon Staddon, executive headteacher at Witchampton First School, part of Initio Learning Trust, said: “We were so impressed by Austin’s enthusiasm and dedication to run 30km for Red Nose Day that we were delighted to join him for the last leg of his target.
“This is an amazing achievement, and he should be very proud of himself. He has inspired and motivated the school to get fit for Comic Relief and beyond.”
