Witchampton pupils bake gingerbread men
Having read about ‘The Gingerbread Man’ as part of the school’s Once Upon a Time theme, Hedgehogs Class pupils made their own.

Reception-age children at Witchampton First School have been honing their baking skills by making gingerbread men.
Children in Hedgehogs Class, who had been reading about ‘The Gingerbread Man’ as part of the school’s Once Upon a Time learning theme, walked across to the Witchampton community shop to buy the ingredients.
They studied the shop’s shelves, telling their teacher about their favourite items: hot chocolate, chocolate biscuits, sweeties and marmite to name a few.
Sharon Staddon, executive headteacher at Witchampton First School, which is part of Initio Learning Trust, said: “Buying the ingredients for and baking their own gingerbread men was an exciting activity for all the children in Hedgehogs Class.
“The children were very well behaved as they studied the shelves at our local community shop, showing our Witchampton First School values of respect as they thanked the shopkeepers for their help and hard work.
“Thank you to our wonderful Witchampton community shop volunteers for welcoming us so warmly – we are already planning our next visit.”
