Detectives in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following a serious assault in the town.
The incident took place sometime between 2.12am and 2.21am on Sunday 20 September 2015, outside the Bournemouth Bedding Centre in Charminster Road. The victim, a 34-year-old man from Bournemouth, was walking along Charminster Road with a friend when they were approached by a group of three unknown men. One of the men punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the pavement. The victim was knocked unconscious in the incident and was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment.
He sustained swelling to the front of his brain, a fractured eye socket and cheekbone, a suspected broken nose and cuts to the back of his head. His condition is not thought to be life threatening. The offenders, who were heading towards the Richmond Arms pub at the time of the incident, left the scene.
Detective Constable Tom Alsford, of Bournemouth CID, said, “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack which has left the victim in hospital with very serious injuries.
“An investigation is underway to find the people responsible for this violent assault and I would urge anyone w ho saw the incident or has any information about who was responsible to please call Dorset Police.
“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
No arrests have been made.
