World record attempt in Wimborne is successful subject to confirmation from Guinness
A world record attempt by Rotary Wessex for the ‘largest human representation of a text’ has been successful subject to confirmation from Guinness.
Rotary Wessex has said a big thank you to the nearly 300 people including Rotarians and members of the public who came to Wimborne on 28 May and took part in a world record attempt that told the story of how Rotary is working to end polio. The world record attempt by Rotary Wessex for the ‘largest human representation of a text’. Each participant held up a letter or piece of punctuation telling the story of how Rotary is working to end polio.
The words used in the challenge were: ‘For over 30 years, Rotary and its members have been committed to fighting to eradicate polio across the world. The amount of polio-endemic countries has dropped from 125 to just 3 with over two & a half billion children receiving vaccinations thanks to the help of Rotary’
A family fun day was held alongside the record attempt. In addition Smudgerhunt Film made a film as proof of the record.
This year is the 100th Anniversary of the Rotary Foundation and ending polio worldwide is its biggest challenge to date.
