Outgoing Members of the UK Youth Parliament are hosting an information day to share their experiences with other students.
The information and training day, will be held at Dorchester Youth Centre, Kings Road on Thursday 15 October, 9.30am – 2.30pm. The day will be run by the young people and aims to give other students a better understanding of political processes and the opportunity to meet like-minded young people.
Jack Dunne, Member of the UK Youth Parliament said: “We hope this training day for other students will give them the opportunity to develop their skills so they can get involved with Dorset Youth Council and UK Youth Parliament projects on a local and national level.”
Keen to share their experiences are Members of the UK Youth Parliament, Jack Dunne and Lucy Armstrong together with Dorset Members of Youth Parliament Grace Van Zyl and Crystal-Lily Mills. They will be running a series of personal development and skill building workshops focussing on communication and campaigning.
Cllr Toni Coombs, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for students to build on their confidence and self-esteem, learn how to make a positive difference to the lives of other young people and develop debating skills. I would encourage as many young people as possible to attend this open day – you never know what you might learn. ”
