Actress Millie Bobby Brown supports NHS heroes
Millie Bobby Brown has already achieved a huge amount in her 16 years, and now the star of the Netflix series Stranger Things has donated funds to local hospitals.
The British actress, who moved to Bournemouth with her family when she was four, before moving to Florida four years later, has donated £5,000 each to Bournemouth Hospital Charity, Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal and Southampton Hospitals Charity to help support frontline NHS staff during the coronavirus pandemic.
After launching an emergency appeal, Bournemouth Hospital Charity has received over £70,000 in donations from the community, including this donation from Millie.
Millie Bobby Brown said, “Britain’s NHS workers – and all carers – are an inspiration to us all and are the nation’s heroes. I am in awe of every one of them and just wanted to thank those risking their lives – particularly in hospitals on the south coast. The area is very dear to me and my family, and I cannot wait to visit again soon. Keep up the brilliant work and stay safe. Thank you. You are all amazing.”
The donations the charity receives will be used to fund a number of items, including personal care packages, non-perishable food and drink, access to psychologists and activities and journals that promote positive mental health.
Head of charity for Bournemouth Hospital Charity, Debbie Anderson, said, “We are incredibly grateful to Millie Bobby Brown for not forgetting her south coast roots and everyone that has donated to our NHS Heroes appeal during this pandemic. We are committed to supporting the mental and physical wellbeing of our staff at this time, and thanks to the generous donations we have already received we have already purchased health and wellbeing books, toiletries, refreshments, and white boards to communicate with patients and other staff members when wearing PPE.
“We thank everyone for their continued support and will be using these donations to support these heroes not just during, but after the pandemic.”
