Beach thefts in Bournemouth – witness appeal
Beachgoers enjoying the hot weather last Saturday had items stolen while they were swimming in the sea.
Police officers are investigating a series of reported thefts at Bournemouth Beach and are asking for witnesses, or anyone with information, to come forward.
Three men were arrested after reports of a group of men stealing bags and other items while people were in the sea in the area of Undercliff Drive to the east of Bournemouth Pier on the afternoon of Saturday 9 September.
The men – two aged 23 from London and a 19-year-old of no fixed abode – were arrested on suspicion of theft. They have been released under investigation as further enquiries are carried out.
Officers recovered a number of items including wallets, Airpods, several pairs of trainers, mobile phones, a watch and several bags.
Police Constable John Barron, of Bournemouth police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this matter and I would urge anyone who witnessed these reported thefts, or who has any information that might assist our enquiries, to please contact us.
“We are also keen to reunite the owners of the recovered items with their property and I would urge anyone potential victims who have not already contacted police to please come forward.”
