BH Coastal Lottery supports community
Weekly prizes of up to £25,000 can be won by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole residents as well as £1,000 of John Lewis vouchers.
If you want to raise funds for good causes without taking part in a challenge, you could be tempted to sign up to the BH Coastal Lottery.
Open to people living in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, there is a chance to win weekly cash prizes up to the £25,000 jackpot.
And if you enter between 1 September and 30 October, you could win £1,000 of John Lewis vouchers. Currently, there is a competition to win a staycation at a Forest Lodge holiday – anyone buying a ticket before 28 August could be the lucky winner.
Tickets are £1 in the weekly draw where you get to choose exactly which good cause you would like your money to go to.
The good cause you choose to support will get 50 per cent of the ticket price with an additional 10 per cent going to further support causes in the local community; 20 per cent covers the prize fund and the remaining 20 per cent covers the administration costs associated with running the lottery. Unlike larger lotteries, 60 per cent of your ticket purchase comes back into your community and the odds of winning a prize are much better, at just 50:1.
Since its launch the BH Coastal Lottery has raised more than £130,457.50 for local good causes and currently 110 good causes are signed up.
These range from groups to support disability, health, mental health, children and young people, education, sports groups, environment / green space and animal welfare.
Cllr Jane Kelly, lead member for engagement, BCP Council, said: “We are very encouraged by the success of the BH Coastal Lottery and thank our residents for their support. Our residents have won cash prizes totalling £55,200, and we have also had lucky winners of prizes to stay in our beach lodges in Bournemouth.
“We would also encourage local good causes to register and start benefiting from the fundraising from the lottery. It costs nothing to register, and we found that during the recent lockdowns, BH Coastal lottery local causes continued to fundraise and through its Community Fund small grants, enabled groups to provide many essential services to those in most need.”
To buy tickets go to bhcoastallottery.co.uk or call 01202 798877. The draw for the forest lodge holiday is on 28 August, and the draw for the John Lewis vouchers is on the 30 October. The results will be announced at 8pm on the lottery website.
