Big success for Bournemouth’s Giant Easter Weekend
Bournemouth, Culture, Events & Entertainment | Posted on April 20th, 2017 |
Across the Easter weekend, over 15,000 visitors chased a giant, hopping golden bunny around Bournemouth’s coastal districts.
A giant golden bunny has been hopping around Bournemouth’s coastal districts. Attracting visitors from far and wide, the appearance of the giant inflatable golden bunny was followed by activities, free giveaways, costumed Easter bunnies, live music and performances. A testament to its success, an estimated 15,000 people joined in with the Bournemouth Giant Easter Weekend.
Enthusiastically exploring the local area, families enjoyed a wide range of fun activities that highlighted a variety of businesses; from tourist attractions and retailers to food and drink providers. A community effort, the Bournemouth Giant Easter Weekend was brought together by local businesses with the support of the Coastal Business Improvement District (BID) to attract more visitors to the local area and showcase what they have to offer.
Across the weekend, the Giant Golden Easter Bunny could be seen in Bournemouth’s Lower Garden, Boscombe and Southbourne. Providing entertainment for the kids, those visiting the giant bunny also had the opportunity to enter the #LoveBournemouthBunnies competition.
In the lead up to Easter, 10 Golden Bunnies have been moving across 70 businesses within the coastal area. Moving every three days, shoppers have had to locate and upload selfies with the Golden Bunnies onto social media using the #LoveBournemouthBunnies hashtag for a chance to win prizes.
With the Easter Weekend marking the end of the competition, people are now urged to watch social media for all winner announcements. Hundreds have entered for the chance to win prizes, which include a family pass for RockReef, a family ticket for the Oceanarium, an afternoon tea and overnight stay in one of the three Bournemouth Hallmark Hotels, one free spa treatment, and an afternoon tea at the Hotel Miramar.
Stefan Krause, Coastal BID manager, said, “We are thrilled with the success of the Giant Easter Weekend. Families had an excellent opportunity to explore the area and sample the best of what Bournemouth has to offer. Showcasing our excellent local businesses, all the giveaways and activities were well received by visitors. We now look forward to announcing the winners of #LoveBournemouthBunnies competition.’’
