Celebratory Stagecoach event
The Mayor of Bournemouth, Cllr David Kelsey, opened a Performing Arts event involving five Stagecoach schools in Dorset and Hampshire on 19 March.
Each school had their own time to shine on stage and the show finished with a finale where all 350 children came together for an energetic performance from the popular musical Hairspray.
The event organisers, Peta Moffitt from Bournemouth Stagecoach and Emily Edwards from Ringwood and Wimborne Stagecoach planned the event as a celebration.
“It’s been a turbulent few years for our students, so to be able to offer 350 students the chance to perform to their families and to the public in a non-profit show is amazing,” said Peta.
Emily added, “At Stagecoach, although we are a Performing Arts school, our ethos is about creative courage for life and inclusivity. It isn’t just about being a talented performer, it’s about confidence and self assurance. Our students’ mental health has been affected in so many ways during the pandemic, so this event was a celebration for our students.”
She said memories were made that will last a lifetime. The mayor closed the event, which included a wide variety of themes relating to Africa, Mamma Mia, environmental issues and more, making the evening both educational and entertaining.
