Chain ferry out of action from November to mid-December

After the extended refit in 2022, Sandbanks Ferry is scheduled for another major overhaul this winter. The service will end on Sunday 1 November, with vehicles having to take the long way around for at least seven weeks.

General manager Wayne Row noted the likely disruption, saying: “We appreciate the ferry is part of the critical transport network for so many people across Dorset and understand that service disruptions can be difficult to plan around.

“We’re doing everything we can to ensure works are both thorough and efficient, so we can be back on the chains quickly. I’d like to thank our passengers in advance for their understanding.”

An exact date for the Sandbanks Ferry’s return to service will be announced in December.
