The Grove – Mayor’s Charity Afternoon Tea
Mayor of Bournemouth’s Charity Appeal Fund supports local charities with an Afternoon Tea hosted at the unique The Grove Hotel, Bournemouth.
Mayor of Bournemouth, Cllr John Adams JP, along with over eighty supporters of the Mayor of Bournemouth’s Charity Appeal, recently gathered at The Grove Hotel in Bournemouth for an afternoon tea party in aid of the Mayor’s chosen charities. Blessed with an afternoon of sunshine, the event was a great success and included supporters such as legendary AFC Bournemouth forward, Steve Fletcher, who auctioned an official team t-shirt with proceeds going to The Grove Hotel.
The Grove Hotel is a unique hotel for people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, run by one of the Mayor’s chosen charities, Macmillan Caring Locally. Afternoon Tea was held in The Grove’s stunning gardens, and the Vintage High Tea Company provided the guests with delicious canapés and a vintage afternoon tea.
All funds raised from the tickets to the Charity Afternoon Tea went towards Macmillan Caring Locally and the Mayor of Bournemouth Charity Appeal’s other chosen charities: The Bournemouth Leukaemia Fund, The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Julia’s House, Bournemouth Above & Beyond, Bournemouth Round Table No.5 and The Bournemouth Amateur Philharmonic Society.
Manager of The Grove Hotel, Brenden Howard, has said:
“It was a pleasure to host the Charity Afternoon Tea and help raise vital funds not only for our own hotel and Macmillan Caring Locally but the other six fantastic charities from the local area. There was a really positive atmosphere to the whole afternoon and a true feeling of community spirit. All our guests who joined in thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon too.”

The Grove Hotel, set in beautiful gardens near the clifftop, is specially equipped to meet the needs of those with life-threatening illnesses and their accompanying guests. A number of bedrooms have electric recliner beds and emergency cords; bathrooms and showers have stools and handrails; and there is full wheelchair access. There are also nurses on emergency call 24 hours a day. The first-class restaurant serves a superb range of dishes and their highly-trained chefs can prepare special meals to meet any specific dietary requirements.
The Mayor has said of the Charity Afternoon Tea:

Big thanks also goes to The Grove Hotel for hosting us all. Their services are outstanding and the work they do to give their highly-deserving guests a first-class holiday is invaluable.”
