Reverend Sarah Pix (pictured) led the way down St Mary’s Church Tower as over 40 people from local churches, town and district councillors, and members of the public, took part in the event to raise funds for the new Beacon Centre and for local charity The Bus Stop Club, which helps disadvantaged families from Ferndown. Funds also went towards helping clients with crippling debt throughout East Dorset, from the Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Centre.
During the day, the Beacon Cafe saw a record number of customers, and the volunteer staff did their best to keep up with food and drink orders.
The abseil was managed by a team of three experienced climbers from Dave Talbot Ltd (Adventure Events), who ensured that everyone had a thrilling but safe experience.
The organisers are grateful to everyone who took part and sponsored the participants. It is expected that the event will raise over £6,000, to be shared between the two charities.
