Thrive Charity Events is running an event at The Winchester Pub in Bournemouth on 20 May 2017 to raise awareness for The Youth Cancer Trust based in Bournemouth.
The event will host live music, an art auction and much more to get excited about. Something in particular is the addition of a Live Art Show where some of the local artists participating at the event will create pieces that will then be auctioned at the event. Local musicians, such as Selby and the Dharma Blitz, Chimpshead A.D, Southern Brotherhood and The Vandals will be performing for the crowds along with Verbal Remedies, who will be hosting some poetry performances. Later into the night an assortment of local DJs will take to the decks from a large variety of genres.
The silent Art Auction will include all of the work from the live artists along with some pre made pieces from artist such as Kech Wo, Dan Collins, Graham Douglas, Shane DRK, FUGUE, Rick Walker, Trevor Lovey’s, Martin Butler, Adam Trimby, Louis Pulford and River Darling.
At the event, there will be food on offer in the evnening, which is sponsored by Sweet Greens – The Organic Vegan Kitchen in Charminster.
Thrive Charity Events is a community project that raises awareness for local charities in the Bournemouth area.
Headed by Hannah Stanley of Winton, Thrive has had two successful events, so far raising a sum total of over £2000 in support of BCHA and Julia’s House charities. Each of the two previous events took place at Buffalo Bar in Winton, which hosted a selection of live music, poetry, a raffle and a silent art auction where pieces of artwork from different media were donated by some talented local artists. All proceeds from the art auction went towards the charities the event was supporting.
Hannah’s outlook for the community is one of inspiration and selflessness and the event is only one extension of that. Thrive Charity Events are not for profit events, aiming to bring local businesses and the community together while hoping to raise awareness and money for hard-working and worthy local charitable organisations.
Hannah says, “Our aim is to coordinate the involvement of local businesses, musicians and artists in the Bournemouth area. Thrive helps promote the businesses, musicians, artists and charities all within one framework – the Thrive events. Each event is a community inspired project that raises funds and awareness for local, deserving charities.” Please like and share the event on Facebook, Twitter and all other social media platforms, to support Hannah and the team at Thrive Charity Events.
Below is a statement from The Youth Cancer Trust and how their organisation works.
Youth Cancer Trust provides free activity holidays for teenagers and young adults (aged 14 to 30) with cancer. Each year approximately 250 young people stay at Tracy Ann House in Bournemouth enjoying time with others of a similar age who understand what it’s like to have cancer.
Cancer can tear your world apart and at an age where everyone else seems to be moving on with their lives, university, relationships, careers – the diagnosis of cancer can bring all of that to a halt.
The Youth Cancer Trust helps reduce the sense of loneliness, which often accompanies long stays in hospital and time off school. Long term friendships are formed. Families are given a much deserved break knowing their child is having fun and being looked after. The activities provided on a holiday range from horse riding, water sports and dry slope skiing. The emphasis is on fun and relaxation.
‘This was an amazing opportunity to meet new people who have been through similar experiences whether it’s going through cancer or supporting a friend. I have made a friend for life from this and I am really grateful for this holiday’ Brioni aged 17
