Christchurch clinic to offer free skin cancer check
To mark Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Southface Dermatology Clinic will hold a free screening event on Saturday 10 May.

Did you know May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month? To mark the occasion, as well as promote early detection and prevention of skin cancer, a clinic in Christchurch is offering free mole checks for one day.
On Saturday 10 May from 9am to 12noon, dermatologists at Southface Dermatology will conduct complimentary mole checks to look for signs of skin cancer such as melanoma.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 18,000 cases of melanoma are diagnosed annually in the UK – that’s 50 new cases every day. Meanwhile, melanoma rates have increased by 32 per cent in the past decade. Despite the risks, only 18 per cent of people consistently use protection like sunscreen.
Dr Helen Robertshaw, lead consultant dermatologist at Southface Dermatology Clinic, said: “Skin cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet cases continue to rise. By offering free screenings, we hope to raise awareness and encourage people to prioritise their skin health. Early detection can save lives.”
The event will run on a first-come, first-served basis at Southface Dermatology Clinic, 1 Avenue Road, Christchurch, BH23 2BU. No booking required.
As well as the free mole screening, attendees can expect to receive skin cancer awareness resources and tips on sun safety.
While the event is free, donations to British Skin Foundation would be appreciated. To find out more, visit www.southfaceskin.com.
