Corfe Mullen school receives ‘good’ report
Ofsted has rated Lockyers Middle School as ‘good’ with pupils knowing how the six values of the school are relevant to their lives.
Lockyers Middle School in Corfe Mullen has been rated ‘good’ in all areas by Ofsted.
Inspectors said pupils are ‘proud’ to belong to Lockyer’s, are punctual and ‘know how the six values of the school are relevant to their lives’.
Furthermore, they add that ‘leaders have high expectations of pupils’ learning, including those who have special educational needs’.
The report says that ‘most pupils live up to these expectations. They are keen to learn and are proud of the work they produce.’
It further adds that ‘the behaviour of pupils is typically good. Pupils behave sensibly and enjoy social times. They know the rules and understand what will happen if they break them.’
The school is part of Wimborne Academy Trust (WAT) and headteacher Antonia Dufek said: “The report is extremely positive.
“It is testament to all the hardworking staff who have created a wonderful learning environment for all the pupils.
“I was pleased that the report recognised the importance we place on reading and that pupils know how crucial it is.
“It also recognises how we teach the pupils to be healthy, both mentally and physically.
“There is some guidance about how we can improve things further and this is already underway.”
Liz West, chief executive officer of WAT, said: “Lockyer’s was pivotal in the Trust-wide reading strategy.
“Reading is a fundamental building block of education and the inspectors made of point of praising the school for its emphasis on this hugely important skill.”
