Cyclist seriously injured in Bournemouth hit and run
In order to establish the identity of the driver of the vehicle, police are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage.
A male cyclist in his 20s was seriously injured on Friday 10 January in a collision with a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.
Dorset Police received the report of the incident which took place in Castle Lane West, near to the Broadway Roundabout, at 10.15pm.
Emergency services attended, and the cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be serious. His next of kin have been informed.
Road closures were put in place as enquiries were carried out in the vicinity. The road reopened at around 11.50pm.
Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident to identify the vehicle involved and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please contact us.
“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything of relevance.
“Furthermore, I would like to urge anyone who is aware of any vehicles that have sustained damage around the relevant time period in unexplained circumstances to please report it to us.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures as we carried out enquiries into this incident.”
