Dorset Police appeal for witnesses
In the last few weeks Dorset Police has made a number of appeals for witnesses or information following various crimes including the following:
Indecent exposure, Poole
When and where: between 11.05am and 11.15am on Thursday 9 March in Ashley Road, near to Waitrose. It was reported that a woman aged in her 20s was out running when she saw a man exposing himself. The man is described as short in height with olive skin, dark hair and a moustache. He was wearing bright blue jogging bottoms. Any witnesses or anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on home CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage is asked to get in touch with Dorset Police quoting occurrence number 55230037391.
Fail-to-stop road traffic collision, Horton Road
When and where: at around 7.25pm on Thursday 23 February a man aged in his 40s was driving a black BMW on Horton Road, near to the Horton Inn, when he was confronted by a black sports car coming towards him on the wrong side of the road. It was reported that the sports car was overtaking of a white car with ‘L’ plates. The BMW driver was forced off the road and onto the verge as he attempted to evade the overtaking vehicle. His car sustained damage and he suffered minor injuries but did not require medical treatment. It was reported that the other two vehicles did not stop at the scene. Theft of an e-scooter, Bournemouth
When and where: at around 4.30pm on Saturday 4 February 2023 a man cut a padlock and stole a Pure e-scooter and helmet that was secured to railings near to Next at Castlepoint Shopping Centre. The scooter and helmet were worth approximately £500. Get in touch with Dorset Police if you saw anything, quoting occurrence number 55230020128.
Assault at a rugby match, Sherborne
When and where: at around 3.30pm on Saturday 4 March it is reported that a male rugby player was assaulted during the first half of a match between Sherborne RFC and Wellington RFC at the Terrace Playing Fields. The victim sustained fractures to his eye socket and cheekbone. Criminal damage to a home, Portland
When and where: between 4.50pm and 5pm on Wednesday 1 March in Park Estate Road, near to the junction with Montrose Close. Stones were thrown through at the front door of the address, causing damage to a glass pane. Burglary, Poole
When and where: between 7pm and 11pm on Saturday 4 March entry was gained to an address in Stevenson Crescent and a quantity of jewellery and cash was stolen. Two passports were also taken from the property. Suspicious vehicle fire, Weymouth
When and where: at 3.52am on Sunday 5 March police received a report of a vehicle fire at the junction of Blenheim Road and Lancaster Road. Officers attended to assist the fire service and, following enquiries, it is believed the fire was started deliberately. Attempted burglary, Verwood
When and where: at around 11.50pm on Saturday 4 March it was reported that a resident in Coniston Close was alerted to a group of men in a black SUV type vehicle attempting to tow his van off the driveway. He went to challenge the men and was struck by a projectile that was believed to have been fired by a catapult, causing a laceration to his cheek. He was also struck by some kind of metal bar or tool and was taken to hospital for treatment to a broken arm. It is not believed anything was stolen by the offenders and they left the scene in the black SUV in the direction of Manor Lane. The offenders are described as a group of four or five men, wearing dark clothing and gloves with their faces covered. Racially aggravated assault, Blandford
When and where: at around 3.25am on Sunday 5 March, it was reported that a man was being assaulted by another man in Salisbury Street. The incident was reported to have started earlier in the Kings Arms Alehouse in Whitecliff Mill Street. The victim – a man aged in his 30s from Bournemouth – did not sustain any serious injuries. During the incident, he was racially abused by the offender. Reported theft of a vehicle, Blandford, and subsequent alleged dangerous driving
When and where: at around 2.20am on Sunday 5 March officers reported seeing a black Kia Sportage driving erratically in Wimborne Road. They reportedly attempted to stop the vehicle but it made off in the direction of the Stour Meadows. It was reported that the car left the road and was found partially submerged in the River Stour. Fire and ambulance services attended to assist. The single male occupant was checked over and had not sustained any injuries. Further enquiries revealed the vehicle had reportedly been stolen from an address in the town. A 20-year-old man from Somerton in Somerset was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, aggravated taking a vehicle without consent and driving offences. Arrangements were made to recover the vehicle. Alleged stabbing, Wimborne
When and where: at around 9.50pm on Sunday 26 February to reports that a man had been stabbed at an address in the Leigh Gardens area. A man aged in his 50s was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds, which were believed to be serious but not life-threatening. Following initial enquiries, a 15-year-old boy and a 27-year-old man, both from the Wimborne area, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on police bail. An 18-year-old Poole man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has now been charged with attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place. He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 4 March and is next due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Thursday 30 March. An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Wimborne, as well as a 35-year-old man from Fordingbridge in Hampshire who were all arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender remain on police bail. A 38-year-old Wimborne woman who as arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice has also been released on police bail. Sexual assault, Bournemouth
When and where: at around 1.15am on Tuesday 14 February a man pushed a woman up against a window in the area of the Buffalo Bar in Wimborne Road and attempted to kiss her. A member of the public intervened and the man walked off in the direction of Alma Road. He is described as being aged in his late 40s, around six feet tall and bald. Any motorists who were travelling in the vicinity who have relevant dashcam footage should contact Dorset Police quoting occurrence number 55230023781. This crime was updated by Dorset Police on 13 March – following enquiries a 41-year-old man from Christchurch has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been released on bail as the investigation continues.
