Dorset Police crackdown on Bournemouth crime
Operation Enduring has been launched this week to target anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and retail crime.
Dorset Police are targeting drug use, anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and retail crime in Bournemouth with the launch this week of Operation Enduring.
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole police commander, Chief Superintendent Heather Dixey, said: “We understand our communities want to be reassured and see a visible police presence in the town centre and address the issues which matter to them.
“We know the importance of face-to-face, proactive engagement with our communities in terms of gathering intelligence, understanding their concerns and taking proactive action as a result.
“We want Bournemouth to be a safe environment for all of our communities and residents, businesses and tourists to have confidence in local policing.”
The last month has already seen a new team launched in the town, with local police coming together with other community safety staff from Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council to provide a one team approach across the area.
Chief Superintendent Dixey added: “Effective partnership working is critical to ensure that all agencies are communicating and are clear on the role they play in making Bournemouth safer.
“Enforcement and targeting offenders has a key role to play, but equally important is talking to those living and working in the town to give them a voice in where resources are deployed and areas which need attention.”
“Bournemouth has so much to offer and this week will see one of the busiest weeks of the year with the Bournemouth Air Festival running from Thursday and throughout the weekend.
“I would proactively encourage anyone in or around the town, whether they live here, are visiting or own a business in the area, to speak to my officers and ensure we know your thoughts on how we can make you feel safer and get the results we all want to see to make Bournemouth a destination of choice.”
