Dumpton pupil replicates Channel swim raising nearly £10,000
Dumpton School pupil Fraser Burnet has swum the equivalent of the English Channel to France and back to raise funds for Forest Holme Hospice.
The 10-year-old undertook the swim in memory of his father who died two years ago and his grandfather who passed away last year.
Fraser completed 5,634 lengths of his pool at his home in Poole.
So far he has raised over £3,000 and with the help of generous match-funding pledges from Teleost Cayman Ltd and Ancora Software, he is now only £350 short of his £10,000 target.
Fraser, said, “Every time I swam, I had in the back of my mind that every pound I raised, was a pound towards increasing comfort in someone’s precious life. So I hope by raising £10,000, I will have helped achieve this.”
Charlie James, fundraiser at Forest Holme, said, “We have all been so impressed with Fraser’s dedication and determination to raise such a phenomenal amount of money for the hospice. He is quite a remarkable young man and both his Daddy and Grandpa would be very proud.”
