Enjoy a romantic tea in Wimborne for Valentine's Day
Tea Hearts is an afternoon tea event focused on bringing folks of all ages together this Valentine’s Day, 14 February.
The event has been designed by a group of five Arts University Bournemouth Creative Events Management students in response to a brief from Priest’s House museum director, Emma Ayling.
The event will take place at the Hilda Coles Open Learning Centre, at Priest’s House Museum in Wimborne Minster, Dorset, where the museum’s collections are rich in archaeology, and costumes, and include other local history materials, which tell the story of East Dorset. The event will raise money for the Priest’s House Museum.
This event is one of several collaborations that the Arts University Bournemouth’s students will be taking on in 2017. Liaising with AUB’s Graphics, Costume, Creative Writing, and Interior Architecture courses the Tea Hearts afternoon tea party will for part of the Be My exhibition. The Be My exhibition runs from 4 February until 28 February. The exhibition is inspired by the Priest’s House Museum’s collection of over 350 Victorian Valentine’s day cards. The collection is renowned nationally for its great cultural significance.
The Tea Hearts event will take place between from 2pm until 4pm on 14 February. Helpers will be serving guests a traditional afternoon tea whilst incorporating a vintage theme throughout the garden tea room.
Participants will be encouraged to chat with other guests and enjoy some entertainment sourced in from the surrounding areas. The organisers would like to “encourage those who may feel like Valentine’s day is no longer a cause for celebration and to show them that they are loved here in East Dorset”. All are welcome, young or old, they say. Tickets cost £8.50, which is the regular price of a ticket and includes a traditional, vintage-themed, afternoon tea experience utilising Dorset-based baked goods and sandwiches and light entertainment.
Booking is essential. You can purchase a ticket from the Wimborne Tourist Information Centre, either in person or over the phone. For tickets purchased over the phone, call 01202 886116. There will be an additional charge of £1 for over the phone purchases. Please note, for any special dietary requirements contact the Priest’s House Museum.
