Enter Wimborne in Bloom
People who would like recognition for their gardening skills are invited to enter the local Wimborne in Bloom competition.
Wimborne in Bloom wants to make its 30th anniversary year one to remember and is urging as many people as possible to enter the local competition.
Judging will take place from Monday 4 to Saturday 9 July.
The categories are:
- Best shop window display – to interpret ‘Wimborne in Bloom’
- Best overall outside display – business premises
a. Public house – within town boundary
b. Public house – country district within 3 miles of the town centre
c. Business premises not entered in 2a or 2b - Best garden open to the public where an entrance fee is paid
- Best church, churchyard or memorial garden
- Best school gardens or grounds
- Best front garden
Annual, perennial or mixed
b. First-time entry - Best back garden
- Best communal garden or group of houses including residential/nursing homes
- Private dwelling
Best hanging basket
b. Best overall display – hanging and/or wall baskets, tubs or containers - West Borough Challenge Trophy
Best floral display (baskets, pots, window boxes or front garden) at the front of a house or business premises on West Borough - Best allotment
- Best display surrounding a town sign
- Wildflower entry
People are also encouraged to make a concerted effort to use flower displays, particularly in the town centre, by using baskets, tubs, containers or any other imaginative device to add a splash of floral colour to Wimborne’s streets and squares.
The closing date for entries is Monday 27 June. You can download an entry form from the Wimborne in Bloom website, or you can obtain a copy from the Tourist Information Centre or the library.
In addition, Wimborne in Bloom is once again holding its Art and Poetry competitions with a closing date of Wednesday 22 June. Entry forms are available from https://wimborneinbloom.org.uk/entryform.htm
