A Bournemouth man who has represented the UK in Eurovision, will officially start Bournemouth Hospital Charity’s Twilight Walk for Women at Bournemouth Seafront on 20 May at 8pm.
Russ Spencer, who is part of the band Scooch, will start the women’s health event which sees walkers take a 1km, 5km or 10km stroll at twilight to help raise money for life-changing equipment and treatment at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Funds raised at the 2016 event will go towards Myosure equipment that will help diagnose and treat cancer of the womb and Botox injections to help treat women with overactive bladders.
Russ Spencer, said, “I’m very proud to be supporting Bournemouth Hospital Charity and I’m looking forward to seeing lots of walkers at the starting line. It doesn’t matter which distance you sign up to, what matters is that you are supporting your local hospital.
“I wanted to support the hospital as my mum was treated there and I wanted to show my gratitude. I hope lots of people get behind their local hospital and sign up to raise funds for this life-changing equipment.”
Russ has also named Bournemouth Hospital Charity as his chosen charity for his appearance on the popular BBC game show Pointless. To find out how he gets on tune in to “Pointless Celebrities – Eurovision Special” which airs on Saturday night before the Eurovision Song Contest at 6:20pm on BBC1.
Registration forms for the walk can be picked up from the Charity Office situated in the main entrance at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, or you can register online at www.bournemouthhospitalcharity.org.uk/ Registration costs £15 per adult (16 and over), children age 5-15 £7.50 and under 5s are free. Fancy dress is optional.
