Food waste collections rolled out across BCP Council area
Additional households in Poole and Bournemouth now have weekly food waste collections on the same day as rubbish and recycling.
All homes and flats in Poole now have food waste collections.
More than 100,000 additional households in Poole and Bournemouth are now able to recycle their food waste every week, joining those in Bournemouth and Christchurch who already recycle their leftovers.
Food waste is collected every week by a separate lorry on the same day as rubbish and recycling.
Kate Langdown, director of environment, said: “This rollout is a really positive step for our communities.
Recycling food waste is one of the quickest, easiest habits residents can adopt — and even small amounts really add up.
“Most people want to do the right thing, and bringing everyone onto the same weekly food waste collection service makes it easier than ever for everyone to recycle their food waste and feel confident they are making a positive impact.”
If a household has not received its new food waste bin, it can be reported at: https://www.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/bins-waste-and-recycling/household-bins/report-a-missing-or-damaged-bin.
For flats, missed deliveries can be reported at: https://www.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/campaigns-and-programmes/simpler-recycling/your-new-food-waste-recycling-collection-service
