Get involved in the Christchurch River Pageant 2025
Christchurch and Boscombe & Southbourne Rotary Clubs are organising a river pageant to take place in August and inviting groups to participate.

Christchurch and Boscombe & Southbourne Rotary Clubs are organising a traditional river pageant as part of this year’s Christchurch Carnival, with proceeds going to local charities.
The pageant will take place on the River Stour from Tuckton Bridge to Christchurch Quay on Saturday 16 August, starting at 12noon. The public will be able to watch the waterborne parade from either side of the river.
The parade will variety of river craft reflecting the history of Christchurch and the local area. It will feature decorative floats, boats and other watercraft, including novelty rafts, stand-up paddleboards and canoes. The pageant will end with two dragon boat teams racing down the river followed by a prize giving ceremony.
The Rotary Clubs are inviting local community groups, clubs, and schools to participate, and are seeking sponsorship from local businesses.
So far, Sea Cadets, Sea Scouts, Harbour Watch, Marine Voluntary Service, RNLI, National Coastwatch Institution, Christchurch Rowing Club, Sailing Club, Southbourne Surf life savers, and various local SUP and canoe clubs have all agreed to join the parade, but there is still space for other clubs, businesses and private boat owners to take part.
The pageant will raise money for Hengistbury Head Outdoors, the Bourne Water Dragons and the Pink Champagne Breast Cancer Charities.
The organiser, Rotarian Gerry Clarke, said: “We are appealing to local business to get behind this innovative new project and help us raise money for the two local Dragon Boat Cancer Charities and the Hengistbury Head Outdoor Education Centre which will be able to provide a range of waterborne and shore-based activities for the benefit of our local community. Whether you can sponsor the event, provide a prize, or help in any other way, we would love to hear from you.”
The pageant is being organised with support from the Christchurch Chamber, Town Council and BID team. For more details, visit https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61573947596615 or contact Clarke on 07710 611123 or by email at 3gclarke@gmail.com.
