Graffiti removed from Bournemouth town centre
The Big Clean Up saw 29 volunteers remove 41 pieces of graffiti and 58 bags of rubbish during this annual event.

Graffiti and rubbish were removed from numerous places in Bournemouth this week.
In the Big Bournemouth Clean Up a total of 41 pieces of unwanted ‘artwork’ were removed from the centre of the town.
This annual event saw 29 volunteers from Bournemouth businesses join the Town Rangers and Bournemouth Town Centre BID staff to hit the streets armed with litter-pickers and bags.
Volunteers came from Preston Redman, Experience UX, BU International College, Bright Blue Day, Grosvenor Casino, HSBC, BCP Council and the newly opening Barbara’s Bier Haus, along with Turtle Bay – which also provided breakfast for the clean-up team. Over the course of the two-hour litter-pick, they collected 58 bags of rubbish in all.
Paul Kinvig, chief operating officer at Bournemouth Town Centre BID, said: “Once again, we’re incredibly grateful to our town centre businesses for their efforts, which have made a huge impact.
“Together with an extended graffiti clean-up operation, and the ongoing cleaning action undertaken year-round by the Bournemouth Town Centre BID, we’re playing our part in preparing the town centre for the busy Easter period.”
Bournemouth Town Centre BID deploys a graffiti removal team on a monthly basis, which resulted in 371 areas of graffiti being cleaned up last year – more than one a day on average.
Bournemouth Town Centre BID also funds and manages a rapid response cleaning service. Last year alone, their cleaner collected 3,394 bags of rubbish – that is over and above rubbish removed by the street cleaning service provided by BCP Council.
Martin Davies, chairman at Bournemouth Town Centre BID, said: “Addressing issues like graffiti and littering as soon as possible is crucial in maintaining a clean and welcoming town centre.
“We know that small issues, if left unchecked, can lead to bigger problems, so by taking swift action, we’re not only improving the appearance of our town, but also helping to deter further vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
“This is all part of our ongoing commitment to creating a vibrant, safe, and inviting space for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.”
The Bournemouth Town Centre BID has stepped up its contribution to keeping the town centre looking its best, including last year taking over the provision and maintenance of hanging baskets, pedestals and planters in Bournemouth town centre, which visitors will see going up again this year towards the start of summer.
