Hillside Community First school in Verwood has prepared for the darker winter days by ‘blinging’ their rides recently. This event was supported by the children bringing in over 70 bikes and scooters. Great use was made of foil, lights, tinsel and reflective and neon materials. Everyone worked really hard and received a certificate in assembly for taking part. Mr Harrison, head teacher, judged the entries and awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. He commented, “Wow. What super, original ideas! Everyone has made my judging difficult this year.”
This event was organised by Mrs Daw, reception class teacher, with advice from Darren Orchard from Sustrans, a leading charity encouraging both adults and children to choose healthier, cleaner and cheaper journeys. The children are looking forward to more exciting events this year at Hillside.
