Jurassic coast youth adventure for young people

The efforts of Dorset Freemasons and the support of Freemasons across the country will see more than two hundred deserving children enjoying a free adventure holiday for a week this month.

This project, conceived in Dorset is a unique way for Freemasonry to work for the benefit of the wider community. It also provides an unprecedented opportunity to celebrate 300 years of Freemasonry in England.The free holiday has been organised by Dorset masons and is entirely funded by a large number of masonic lodges and their members.

The children will take part in sports, adventure, and land and water-based activities, supervised by professional staff at a holiday centre near Weymouth.

Along with the outdoor facilities, the centre also has a selection of indoor ones including climbing walls, a large sports hall and an activity zone. Watersports take place just a short coach journey away on the nearby Isle of Portland, at the multi-million-pound facility where the 2012 Olympic sailing events were held.

The project has received national recognition and will be visited by the Assistant Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England as well as distinguished Freemasons from across England and Wales during the course of the event.

Dorset Freemasonry now comprises 49 Lodges meeting at 18 centres from Shaftesbury and Sherborne in the north, to Swanage and Portland in the south and from Branksome and Kinson in the east to Bridport and Lyme Regis in the west.
