New and improved bus services for Canford Magna residents
The newly improved bus services were rolled out on Saturday 24 May.

Residents in Canford Magna and the surrounding areas can now enjoy major improvements to their bus services.
The enhancements promise to provide faster, more frequent and more reliable services and were rolled out on the weekend of Saturday 24 May.
The changes include a new number 11 bus route from Canford Paddock to Bournemouth, and merging the 6 and 6a bus routes from Wimborne to Bournemouth to increase their frequency to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday.
These are the most significant improvements to the bus network in the area for over five years.
The expanded services are designed to serve a range of journeys and travel needs, including commuting, school travel, and access to local services and retail. Cllr Andy Hadley, portfolio holder for Climate Response, Environment and Energy at BCP Council, said: “This is a positive step forward for public transport in Canford Magna and the surrounding area. We have worked in partnership with Morebus and the developers to ensure that existing residents in the area benefit from better public transport links, and especially by making services available to our new residents as they move in, this helps to combat congestion in the area.”
The improvements have been made possible by a combination of funding from the Department for Transport’s Bus Service Improvement Plan and contributions from housing developers Taylor Wimpey and Cala Homes, who are developing Canford Vale in Canford Magna and Oakwood Park in Wimborne respectively.
Using the resources provided by Taylor Wimpey and Cala Homes, BCP Council has worked closely with Morebus to align the delivery of improved public transport connectivity with new community development timelines, and secure wider benefits than could have been achieved otherwise. This collaborative approach ensures both new and existing residents across a wider area benefit from higher-quality public transport options, and sooner than would have otherwise been possible.
Aaron Wright, Senior Planning Manager at Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, said: “We are delighted with the delivery of the newly improved travel services and are proud that our contribution to this scheme will benefit not only our Canford Vale residents, but the wider Canford Magna area too.”
Alison Thompson, Head of Planning at Cala Homes (Southern) said: “Through our developments, Cala seeks to deliver lasting benefits for existing residents and new residents and bring added value for the wider community. We’re proud that our contributions to BCP Council will support investment in sustainable transport links, helping to connect people, businesses and services more efficiently.”
