Knit the Royal Family for the Platinum Jubilee
Would you like to create a member of the Royal Family, a crown or a corgi for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee?
This new community knitting and crafting initiative aims to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by inspiring people to make items related to this special event.
You can knit, crochet, sew, patchwork, embroider, felt, bead or craft members of the Royal Family, their pets, crowns or palaces, bunting or items for a royal tea party, or anything else with a royal theme.
“This is an ideal project for knit and natter and craft groups across the area to get involved in, as well as people at home,” said Maria Jacobson, service manager of the Dorset Home Library Service. “We are planning to organise an event or two in June to showcase what people have made for us.
“All items will then be sold to raise money for Royal Voluntary Service and our work here in Dorset and BCP, in particular our Home Library Service.
“Please spread the word, get started and let me know what you are making. Photos are always great and look good on our Facebook page.”

The Royal Voluntary Service do invaluable work in Dorset. The Home Library Service is a life line for many elderly and disabled, who rely on the service. A fantastic idea that I hope will be fully supported by the Dorset community.
