Last chance to apply for VE Day 80 street party road closure
People have until 11 April to apply for a road closure for street parties to mark the 80th anniversary of the ending of the war in Europe.

Street parties will be held across the region on the Spring Bank Holiday 5 May to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, but if you need a road closure, you must apply by 11 April.
Dorset Council is encouraging communities to host their own street or home celebrations – with flags and bunting, games, fancy dress, music and dance.
However, if people host a Street Meet on a driveway, parking area, or front garden or at the end of a cul-de-sac, wide pavement or grass verge, you don’t need a road closure.
The official 80th anniversary website offers a wealth of tips and inspiration for party planners including The Big Lunch Guide to Bringing People Together, ideas for food, games and activities, quiz sheets and templates for home-made bunting, flags, posters and party invitations.
Town and parish councils across Dorset will also be organising their own events.
Cllr Ryan Hope, portfolio holder for Customer, Culture and Community Engagement at Dorset Council said: “The 80th anniversaries of VE Day give us a chance to come together and honour the sacrifices made by many during the war. Whether by attending a local event, hosting a street party, or sharing stories from the past, we encourage everyone in Dorset to take part in commemorations and celebrations.”
