Medieval mayhem to be unleashed at Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show
It’s Dorset versus Wiltshire at the annual agriculture show taking place on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 August.
This year’s Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 August is about to go full tilt into the realm of medieval drama as a stunt spectacular of jousting knights will thunder into the arena.
The Knights of Albion are performing for the first time ever in Dorset, bringing stunts, high-octane drama, dazzling horsemanship and mayhem to the annual agriculture show.
The stunt spectacular will tell the story of an epic showdown between Dorset and Wiltshire, as Sir Marc the Brave of Gillingham and Sir Rebekka the Wise of Shaftesbury prepare to clash in a noble contest of skill and valour, until the dastardly knight Sir John the Vile from the northern wastelands of Trowbridge, Wiltshire intervenes in the tournament.
Bound by the ancient code of chivalry, the Dorset heroes must allow this villainous interloper to compete. What follows is a whirlwind of jaw-dropping stunts, galloping steeds and mild peasant abuse.
Tom Armstrong-Frost from Outlaw Entertainments, who runs the spectacular alongside his work as a stunt rider in TV and film, expressed his excitement for the show: “Our performances feature a talented ensemble of professionals, all dedicated to bringing the magic and intensity of medieval jousting to life. Spectators can cheer on their favourite knights and even meet the heroes and villains of the plot, alongside their trusty steeds.”
Don’t miss this spectacle at the Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show. The event raises funds for the Gillingham & Shaftesbury Agricultural Society to help support farming and the countryside. It takes place at the Turnpike Showground in Motcombe, Dorset, SP7 9PL.
The show welcomes dogs on leads. Mobility scooters are available for hire on the day. Plus there is free parking and lots of picnic areas.
