MS Centre Dorset celebrates 40 years with fundraising aim
Dorset’s unique provider of support services for local people living with the effects of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) will celebrate 40 years on 11 June.

The 40th anniversary will commemorate the opening of the Osborne Centre at West Parley. A unique provider of support services for those affected by MS, it is powered by stalwart volunteers and opened in June 1985 to serve the community. Central to many lives, it was more recently renamed the MS Centre Dorset.
The centre provides local people with physiotherapy, yoga, transport, outings, hot lunches, social support and interaction, personal care and a framework for enduring friendships. This costs over £60,000 a year.
Centre manager Diana Logan Watts said: “This 40th anniversary is a critical time for our recently independent centre: we are aiming to raise £40,000 this year. We need your help to do it. You could get sponsored to wheel, run, swim, walk, paint, bake cakes, fly a plane, golf, dance or whatever — all of you can join in our aim to achieve this figure in 2025–26.”
She added that currently 100,000 people in the UK are living with MS and it affects many more as friends and families provide necessary support.
“Over 100 people are regular members of the MS Centre Dorset and many more families and friends gain from the ongoing support provided. Without any formal funding, the MS Centre Dorset continues to support those affected by MS in Dorset. Every penny required to continue this vital service comes from our own fundraising efforts,” added Logan Watts.
“Please help us to continue our work and donate now. Even the price of a cup of coffee will go towards our goals for continued support long into the future.”
