Museum of East Dorset appeal for memorabilia for new exhibition
If you have memories stretching back over the last 70 years, or any memorabilia, the museum would like you to contact them.
The Museum of East Dorset is hoping local people will be able to contribute to its new exhibition – East Dorset Celebrates: 70 years of fun and festivities’ – which starts in April.
However, the deadline for the appeal is Monday 7 March.
The exhibition will examine how people in Wimborne, and other towns and villages in East Dorset, celebrated important local and national events during the last 70 years. The celebrations will include the Queen’s coronation and jubilees, local carnivals held at Wimborne and Verwood, and ‘The Magpies’ (Wimborne Town FC) winning the FA Vase in 1992.
The museum would like to hear from anybody willing to share stories or memories of any of these celebrations. For example, do you remember attending a street party for the Coronation, taking part in a carnival, or witnessing the FA Vase victory parade? Do you have any photographs or memorabilia relating to any of these local events?
Please contact Mark Neathey, curator, on 01202 882533 or email: collections@museumofeastdorset.co.uk.
