More than 30 people from Wimborne’s twin town Valognes came for a visit from 18 to 20 May.
The three towns are marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings with events across the BCP area next week.
A plaque in honour of the 80th anniversary of D-Day was unveiled on 27 May at Swanage station where American Soldiers left for Normandy.
A gathering is to take place at Tarrant Rushton on Saturday 1 June to mark the airfield’s involvement in D-Day 1944.
In addition to three historical talks, the English Civil War Society will re-enact the Battle of Wimborne.
On 4 May, Chris Brown Wimborne Mayor’s sergeant and town crier will read out the Proclamation marking the first anniversary of the Coronation.
HMS Cattistock is to gain the Freedom of the town in a ceremony taking place in Poole this Saturday 4 May.
Dorset Council’s Community & Culture Project Fund is inviting applications from organisers of cultural and sports projects.
An age-old tradition dating back to 1364 will be revived this summer with the Beating the Sea Bounds of Poole.
