After rejecting a proposal to replace Dorset’s nine authorities with two, East Dorset District Council has voted to be involved in debates leading to a potential merger.

Ferndown’s new mayor was unanimously elected at the town council’s annual meeting on 16 May and her husband was also chosen on the night to become her deputy.
Cllr Rebecca Knox was unanimously elected as the new leader of Dorset County Council on 18 May with the deputy leader being Cllr Peter Wharf.
