Southbourne’s Original Shake & Stir Festival has announced a new competition to crown the King, Queen, Prince, and Princess of Vintage.
The Original Shake & Stir Festival is a colourful celebration of all things vintage, taking place from 29 June to 2 July. In the five years since it’s conception, the festival has become a calendar highlight for vintage fans who flock to Southbourne dressed in their finest themed attire ready to jump, jive, and swing. In order to recognise the fantastic effort that festival-goers make, this year the organisers will crown a ‘King and Queen’ and ‘Prince and Princess’ of Vintage.
The title of ‘Vintage King and Queen’ will be awarded to two people over the age of 18, who are deemed to be donning the most fabulous 40s, 50s, 60s or 70s outfits. There will similarly be a ‘Vintage Prince and Princess’ competition to crown the cutest kids between the ages of 3 to 15 who have dressed up in the styles of the era.
Fiona McArthur, co-event organiser, said, “Every year we have hundreds of vintage enthusiasts join us in the most dazzling clothes. The Vintage King and Queen plus Prince and Princess Competition is our way of thanking all those who have fully embraced the spirit of the festival and helped bring it alive.”
The King and Queen and Prince and Princess will be crowned on the festival weekend by a panel of judges who are experts of the era.
