Overnight and weekend road closures in Wallisdown
There will be a number of road closures during this latest phase of improvements to the Wallisdown corridor.
If you’re planning to drive through the Wallisdown area over the next couple of weeks you need to know about some planned road closures.
The latest phase of the Wallisdown corridor improvements scheme will see overnight and weekend resurfacing works at the western end of Wallisdown Road.
- East of Benbow Crescent to Lyon Road (Discovery Court entrance) – closed for the entire weekend from 7am Saturday 26 June to 6pm Sunday 27 June.
- Lyon Road (Discovery Court entrance) to Leyland Road – three overnight closures operational from 7pm to 6am on 29, 30 June and 1 July.
- Leyland Road to Mountbatten Roundabout – closed for the entire weekend 7am Saturday 3 July to 6pm Sunday 4 July.
- Benbow Crescent west junction, to Lyon Road (Discovery Court entrance), and the Leyland Road junction – closed overnight from 7pm to 6am on 1 July.
Cllr Mike Greene, BCP Council portfolio holder for Transport and Sustainability, said: “I am pleased to announce that we are approaching the end of this current phase of improvements. For safety reasons, we need to introduce a number of closures to enable these surfacing works to take place and I encourage you to plan ahead to avoid any delays.
“The Wallisdown area remains the focus of plans to improve sustainable transport links between our towns. This will support local economic recovery and reduce journey times in the long term, while also contributing positively towards our wider transforming travel initiative and declared Climate and Ecological emergency.”
