The three winners of a competition for schools to produce posters to encourage people to pick up litter and their dogs’ mess will each have their posters displayed at places where people walk their dogs.
Lilia Tate, 8, from Oakhurst First School in West Moors; Jake Turner, 8, from Hillside First School in Verwood and Alexandra Andrew, 9, from Emmanuel Middle School in Verwood were presented with book tokens by Cllr Malcolm Birr.
Lilia’s poster will be going up at Fryers Field in West Moors, Jake’s is going up at Stephen’s Castle in Verwood and Alexandra’s is going up at Dewlands Common in Verwood.
Chairman of East Dorset District Council, Cllr Malcolm Birr said: “We had a really difficult job choosing the winners as the standard of all of the posters we received was so high. It’s an important lesson for everyone to learn that it’s not acceptable to drop litter or not pick up after your dog, but we hope the children who entered had fun taking part in the competition as well.”
Photos show the winners with Cllr Sarah Burns, who organised the competition, and Cllr Malcolm Birr (only Cllr Malcolm Birr was present at Jake’s presentation).
