20-year-old Beth Hoyland, who is studying BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy, completed her first year of study as the highest performing student in the University of Gloucestershire’s School of Sport and Exercise Science.
Beth attended Parkstone Grammar School in Poole, Dorset before achieving a place at the university in 2017.
Ede and Ravenscroft, who supply ceremonial robes for all occasions including graduation ceremonies, have provided the scholarship award. Beth, who studies at the university’s Oxstalls campus in Gloucester, was presented with a certificate by the university and will receive a scholarship worth £400.
Beth was one of only 26 students recognised across the university’s schools of study – with the highest performing students in each school receiving an award.
Beth said, “It was a massive surprise but I’m glad the hard work paid off. I’m really happy with my achievement.”
Dr Matthew Andrews, University Secretary and Registrar at the University of Gloucestershire, said, “It is a great honour to recognise the achievements of this group of truly exceptional students. Academic excellence is very important to us as a University and with the support of Ede and Ravenscroft it is really pleasing to be able to recognise their efforts with a significant financial reward.
“I hope that these scholarships will enable all the students to continue to focus on their studies and excel for the remainder of their time at the University of Gloucestershire. We are truly proud of them, and the way they enhance the reputation of the University.”
