Poole warehouse fire blamed on electrical fault
A huge fire broke out at a warehouse on West Quay Road in Poole on Wednesday 1 October.
Around 35 firefighters were called out to tackle a blazing fire at an industrial warehouse on West Quay Road in Poole on Wednesday 1 October.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue (DWFR) said that the firefighters were alerted to the fire at 11.20am. Several crews from around the county were summoned, including Poole and Ferndown, as well as the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne and a water carrier from Ringwood.
As a result of the fire, a large plume of smoke was visible across the town. Residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed. As West Quay Road was shut, there was significant traffic congestion in the afternoon.
By 4.46pm, the fire was extinguished. On Thursday 2 October, DWFR said the cause of the fire was believed to be accidental due to an electrical fault. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
