PREVIEW Hi-de-Hi!
All Saints’ Dramatic Society, Bournemouth Life Centre, Thursday 31 July to Saturday 2 August.
All Saints’ Dramatic Society are bringing back the classic British sitcom ‘Hi-de-Hi!’ this week.
The original BBC comedy aired from 1980 to 1988 and was created by Jimmy Perry and David Croft (the co-writers of other classics including ‘Dad’s Army’ and ‘It Ain’t Half Hot Mum’). Set during the heyday of the traditional British holiday period in the 1950s, ‘Hi-de-Hi!’ depicted the goings on of the fictional Maplins holiday camp in Essex. The show focused on the camp’s entertainers and staff, mostly made up of struggling actors, comedians and has-beens.
The stage version is adapted by Paul Carpenter and Ian Gower. It promises big laughs, eccentric characters, and nostalgic charm—a perfect outing for local theatre lovers and fans of classic British comedy.
The show marks the debut of All Saints’ Dramatic Society brand new venue, the Bournemouth Life Centre, located on Wimborne Road, Winton.
The society was founded in 1951 and is offering complimentary tickets for carers accompanying guest who require assistance.
All Saints’ Dramatic Society are performing ‘Hi-de-Hi!’ at 7.30pm today, Friday and Saturday at the Bournemouth Life Centre in Winton. To book, visit https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/asds.
