Road closures across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole
Over the next couple of weeks, several roads across the conurbation will be closed to allow asphalt preservation works to take place.
There will be several road closures across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in the next couple of weeks as BCP Council carries out a programme of asphalt preservation.
Herbert Avenue will be closed from 8–10 April, between 9.30am and 4pm each day. The closure will run from the A3040 Alder Road end towards Ringwood Road.
Rossmore Leisure Centre will remain open as usual during the works. On 8 April and the morning of 9 April, customers should approach the centre from the Ringwood Road direction. After this point, traffic will be directed to access the site via Alder Road.
Phased road closures will take place on the A341 Magna Road and Queen Anne Drive from 11–12 April, between 8am and 6pm each day. Works will begin at the Bear Cross roundabout end and move west along the route.
As the contractor progresses, the freshly treated road surface will be reopened behind the team, allowing sections to be used again as soon as they are complete.
Access to all local businesses will be maintained throughout the works. Customers are advised to approach these businesses from the A349 Gravel Hill/A341 Queen Anne Drive direction on Saturday 11 April, and from the A341 Bere Cross roundabout/Bearwood direction on Sunday 12 April.
The B3369 Sandbanks Road (from Park Road to Pottery Road) will be closed on 17 April, between 9.30am and 4pm.
Matti Raudsepp, BCP Council’s director of customer and property, said: “Asphalt preservation involves applying a thin protective solution onto the existing road surface using a specialist tanker, providing a cost-effective and quick layer of protection that slows natural deterioration and helps extend the life of the road.
“Residents are advised to plan their journeys accordingly while these works are underway. However, businesses on Herbert Avenue, the A341 Magna Road, Queen Anne Drive and the B3369 Sandbanks Road are not affected and will remain open as usual.”
